TWO-DIMENSIONAL
MASK PROJECT
The main goal of this project was to demonstrate strong depth cues using the characteristics of light and shadow and dynamic/appropriate color schemes. The end product consisted of a printed mask, constructed in Adobe Illustrator, and was
cut out using a laser cutter.
My original concept was a seasonal mask that had each of the four seasons on each corner of the mask and converging at the center around the nose. After reciving some critique I decided to refine the concept to an Autumn mask.
thinking back to what I remebered from my childhood I began to think of leaves changing colors, the begining of the school year, and hunting season.
I retained the leaf idea from the orginal seasonal concept and then began to add additional red and yellow oak leaves arranged around the vibrant red center maple leaf. I next added the tail feathers of a turkey to help balance out the leaves arranged at the bottom of the mask, and placed deer antlers protruding around where the eyebrows would be to further implicate the fall hunting season.
